First Place Award Winner – The Spectrum of Love Exhibition
Taking top honours is Calling, a striking 38 x 38 inch oil on canvas by award-winning artist Kaija Savinainen.
In Calling, Savinainen brings together warmth, motion, and emotional depth in a radiant composition that immediately captivates the viewer. A luminous field of golden yellow fills the canvas, layered with gestural strokes suggesting reeds, light, and wind-swept foliage. From this glowing ground emerge five elongated blue cranes, their curved necks and sweeping wings intertwined in a rhythm of connection.
Savinainen’s brushwork is expressive and fluid. Rich blues — ultramarine and indigo — contrast vividly against the golden background, creating an electric visual dialogue. The birds appear to reach and respond to one another, embodying the title through posture alone. The space between them feels alive, as though carrying an unseen sound.
Within The Spectrum of Love, this work speaks to longing, communication, and devotion. The cranes stand close yet distinct, suggesting that love is not possession but resonance — a call answered across space.
At 38 x 38 inches, the painting is immersive and beautifully balanced, its square format intensifying the emotional exchange at its center. Calling is both technically masterful and deeply felt — a powerful expression of connection that lingers long after viewing.
✨ A must to see.
