Exhibitions:

Some forms of love are not loud or radiant — they are quiet, suspended, and almost fragile in their beauty. It is with sincere appreciation that we recognize The Weight of Tenderness as the First Honourable Mention in The Spectrum of Love exhibition.
In this evocative acrylic painting “The Weight of Tendernes”, Marie-Catherine Smith presents two blossoms bowing toward one another, their forms heavy with bloom. Suspended against a soft, atmospheric background of blended violets and muted blues, the flowers seem to hover in a dreamlike stillness. Their curved stems and delicate tendrils create a quiet conversation between them — one leaning, the other responding — as though tenderness itself carries weight.
The petals, rendered in warm coral and rose tones, are lush yet vulnerable. They fold inward and outward with a softness that feels almost tactile. The subtle gradations of light and shadow give the blooms volume and presence, while the surrounding space remains airy and open. The composition suggests that love can be both strong and delicate at once — that closeness sometimes bends us, that intimacy carries gravity. Yet there is no sense of strain here; rather, there is balance in their shared inclination.
The Weight of Tenderness represents a spectrum of love that is intimate, reflective, and deeply emotional. It speaks to the quiet moments between two beings — where vulnerability is not weakness, but connection.
