I strove for simpler, cleaner compositions, using a vibrant colour
palette. Eliminate unnecessary details, find the essence, the soul of this unique
northern landscape. Revealing the “voice” of the north unencumbered. The
sweeping vistas, the big sky, the scrubby forests of leggy black spruce which cling to
the rocks and pockets of soil defy biological logic. “Waning Twilight” painted using
strong, bright colors reflecting the true essence of the land. I want the viewer to be
swept up into the work, to be held momentarily into the embrace and soulfulness of the north.
