UNIQUE PRINTMAKING METHODS

This course will offer participants the opportunity to develop their skills with monotype, monoprint, and stencil printing methods. You will learn about painterly printmaking methods, printing from interesting found materials such as dry plants, leaves, plastic, fabrics, string, and paper stencils. An etching press will be used as colour printing methods will be done directly on various fine papers. Come make an impression and enjoy a unique course.

Material fee paid to instructor: $20

  • some printmaking paper
  • printing plates
  • printmaking inks
  • glue
  • blotters, registration sheets, newsprint, and clean up materials
  • most printmaking tools will be supplied by the instructor

Student’s material list

  • rubber gloves, paper towel roll, wax paper roll
  • printmaking paper: 3 to 5 sheets (22×30”) printmaking paper
  • 250 gm approx- Suggested brands -BFK Rieves, Stonehenge, Reviere
  • thin coloured and found papers for chine collé
  • various paint brushes
  • 11×14”, 90LB or 160 gram (Deserres mixed media pad by Fabriano)
  • marker and pencil
  • found materials for monoprints: fabrics, string, paper, dry plant materials, etc….
  • bring a brayer (if you have one)
