Day 1

Aboriginal Art: Designs for Shields, Masks and Rocks

Explore Australian Aboriginal art, and create shields, masks, as well as painted rocks using paint and other natural materials.
Objective: Students will view numerous images of authentic Aboriginal art. Templates will provide a springboard for their designs, which can be fashioned into shields or masks, as well as painted on rocks.

Day 2

Fantasy Trees: A Magical Forest

Create a Fantasy Tree that exists in an imaginative forest using multiple mediums.
Objective: Students will create a fantasy tree that is the focal point of a landscape. Templates will be provided; a teacher-led instruction will acquaint students with various tree shapes and approaches. It is not necessary to be realistic, although trees in nature are the inspiration.

Day 3

Flower Painting: Up Close and Personal

Create flower paintings from a bird’s eye view using watercolour paints and collage materials.
Objective: Students will view various works of art showcasing flowers. Emphasis is placed on making it fill the paper, as if magnified. Students will create their own version of a watercolour flower painting, which may include bugs, birds or bees.
