artPontiac board member Linda Roy, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) Execute Director John McDonnell and participating member-artist Katharine Fletcher turned Café 349 into a “Journey Through The Dumoine River Watershed” as they hung the art for the show today. The exhibit runs from March 13th – April 8, 2023.
Word from Mr. McDonnell:
In the summer of 2022, close to twenty artists journeyed to the Dumoine River watershed for a week to capture its rich, unspoiled beauty in paint, photography, sculpture and mixed media. Not only is the Dumoine one of the last remaining undammed rivers anywhere, its watershed contains some of the last remaining stands of old-growth forest in southern Quebec and it is home to iconic and at-risk wildlife, such as the wolf, bear, moose and lynx. The sale of the artwork will help the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) continue to advocate for the protection of the Dumoine and its sister rivers, the Noire and Coulonge.
