Create a collaged background, then learn tricks to embroider, enhancing the composition with contrast, texture and more.
Learn dynamic approaches to embroidery on paper. In the morning we will create a collaged background of papers, old photos, paint, nature inks, and other materials. In the afternoon we will learn the tips & tricks of hand stitching onto our paper backgrounds to enhance our composition. We will discuss various stitch types that work well, line weight, contrast, colours, and texture. Artworks are suitable for cards, book covers, framing and more.
Student supplied materials:
Scissors (for paper)
Paper towels
Paint brushes
Favourite acrylic paint colours
Scrap paper you may like to include in a collage (I have lots available too)
Threads or embroidery floss in similar or contrasting colours (I will supply some too)
Sewing needles (some will be supplied)
Duration of the course: 1 day, 9 am – 4 pm.
Student level : beginner / intermediate
Maximum Number of participants: 8
Language: English (with French assistance as needed)
