Learn the ins, outs and beauty of painting with soft pastels.

In this one day beginner workshop I will explain the properties and beauty of painting with soft pastels. We will discuss the properties of pastels, compositional elements, blocking in, underpainting, value, layering, mark making, colour harmony, and of course the tools and tricks of the trade. I welcome questions every step of the way! We will focus on students completing one painting by the end of the day”.

Materials List

Canson Mi-Teintes pastel paper. Package of 24 (9×12) sheets (buy earth colour package or gray, not black). $14.49 at DeSerres.
Rembrandt soft pastel sticks ($44.99 at DeSerres). NOTE: for cost savings, if you have a friend who is taking the workshop with you, just buy one set and break the sticks in half, then split the cost. OR, you can use some sticks that instructor will provide just for the workshop (not to take home). Then decide if you wish to purchase the set below after you have taken the workshop.

Wet naps for hands, notebook and pen
