Objective: to create pieces of fibre art while practicing meditative stitching.
Participants will practice meditation stitching through hands-on play with textiles. A discussion of what is meditative stitching will be followed by hands-on play with textiles. Participants will use scraps of textile and other objects to hand-stitch and create small pieces of fibre art. The workshop will end with an overview of how to use these pieces.
Student supplied materials
-A selection of fabric scraps of any kind
-A selection of other fibres and objects such as wool, felt, ribbons, thread, embroidery floss, pretty paper, buttons, etc. (optional)
-Hand-sewing tools:: scissors, pins, needles, thread
Supplied by the instructor at no cost:
An assortment of fabric scraps and other fibers and objects, glue, as well as base fabric for the meditative stitching pieces.
Duration of the course: 1 day, 9 am – 4 pm.
