BRYAN CHEN embarked on his creative journey as a youngster, starting with a single camera for photography. His passion was honed through media studies in school, leading to a bachelor’s degree in Film and Television from the University of East Anglia in the U.K. and a Master of Fine Arts in Film, TV, and Digital Media from Hong Kong Baptist University, where he graduated as valedictorian.
With extensive global experience in media organizations across Canada, the U.K., Australia, mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, Bryan has developed relationships with companies such as Rogers Media Inc. and Fairchild New Media Ltd in Toronto. Despite thriving in the commercial art world, he finds fulfillment in teaching. His teaching journey began 20 years ago when he volunteered to teach primary school-aged children in rural China. Bryan, now a co-founder at JR Art Lab, imparts his industry knowledge, teaching students film production, photography and podcasting, merging his passion for teaching with his creative expertise. Apart from photography and videography, Bryan engages in digital painting, 3D sculpting, and VR Art during his leisure time.
