ON NOW, until August 21, 2022 — CALL OF THE TURTLE
This large, multimedia exhibit includes the work of 28 artists whose work raises awareness of the need to protect turtles and the wetlands they inhabit. Months in the planning, with support from the MRC Pontiac, this is our third and most ambitious exhibition of the season. The Pontiac is Quebec’s “turtle central,” as is the Upper Ottawa Valley in Ontario. This show represents a new direction for the PAA, seeking to unite art and conservation with community.
In addition to the work on display, we have set up a Silent Auction for two stunning paintings and a beautiful handwoven scarf contributed by three generous donors to raise funds for conservation. Make a bid when you’re at our Stone School Gallery and check online to continue bidding, up until August 21, the final day of the Call of the Turtle.
We also have a booklet on sale for $20.00 to raise funds for our next conservation-focused show in 2023. It features each artist with an image of their work and a personal story about their connection to turtles. Please buy one and support us in engaging more with nature and conservation to preserve biodiversity in our region.
Finally, as part of the fun, on Saturday, August 6, Ray’s Reptiles will give a free presentation with live turtles at 9:00 a.m. at the Stone School Gallery, followed by a workshop for children and their family (10 a.m. until noon).
Although this workshop is full, everyone is welcome to attend Ray’s Reptiles’ turtle talk at 9:00 a.m. and then linger at the School to browse our beautiful shop. Here you’ll discover a wide range of members’ exceptional artworks at varied prices – truly a one-stop-shop for that perfect gift or piece of art for your own home.
And of course, do visit the exhibition before it closes on August 21!
