Meet artPontiac’s new Vice-President!

David Perret, Vice-President, was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up canoeing and camping in the Canadian Shield. Showing an early aptitude for creativity, David made drawings and origami and participated in Science Fairs. His experiences exploring the vast Canadian wilderness while living in an urban milieu have been a source of inspiration to his work throughout his career.

While completing a BFA at the University of Manitoba, David began making sculptures and installations, selecting materials and processes to suit his concepts and learning as many sculpting methods as he could. In 2007, after years of interest, David began stone sculpting and spent part of 2012 working in Pietrasanta, Italy learning more advanced carving techniques.

In 2014, after 10 years of professional practice and art fabrication experience, David moved to Hamilton, Ontario to pursue an MFA in sculpture at York University, and began to incorporate electronics and robotics into some of his works as well as expanding his use of metal and casting.

Oeno Gallery currently exhibits some of David’s works in their sculpture garden, and he has works of Public Art in the collections on The City of Winnipeg, and The Ontario Science Centre, in corporate collections including Pason Systems and Manitoba Hydro, as well as in numerous private collections internationally.

In 2022 David again relocated, moving to a property in Western Quebec with more space, clean air, and better access to wilderness to inform his work.  David Perrett lives and works in Luskville, QC.
